They are shooting 20 episodes and production is still ongoing. Lance noted that supply-chain issues, COVID-19 protocols and rising costs have all made meeting budgets even more challenging. Tori, who held Kia’s wedding at her venue in Tucker, incorporated Lance’s white flower-infused prayer bench and Courtney’s birthstone bouquet design. She also dumped an idea Kia didn’t like and used the money to buy her designer shoes she wanted.
Let’s get to know the wedding planners making it all happen. Lance, Tori and Courtney compete to deliver a wedding inspired by hip-hop royalty for lovebirds Jontanna and Gary; the bride wants the wedding of the century and all things extra, but her luxury vision makes this wedding extra challenging. For all the couples out there who weren’t able to get picked for “My Celebrity Dream Wedding” the planners said the biggest tip they could offer couples looking to cut wedding costs is to whittle their guest lists as leanly as possible.
One of the things I’ve loved most about being on My Celebrity Dream Wedding is the opportunity to work with clients who are deserving of a dream wedding they’re not in a position to make happen. As lead designer, his work has been featured on “The Real Housewives” and “Love & Hip Hop” as well as numerous publications, including The Knot and Black Bride. He’s also the face of VH1’s hit reality series“My Celebrity Dream Wedding,” where he competes against other in-demand planners to give ordinary couples their celebrity-inspired dream nuptials. Three top wedding planners pitch their celebrity-inspired ideas to a soon-to-be-married couple, the bride chooses one to plan the nuptials, and the runners-up act as assistants to help pull off the vision on a limited budget. All clients – whether LGBTQ, straight or whatever it may be – have different things they may want to include in their weddings.
Coworkers turned lovebirds Kia and Ken want a NeNe Leakes-inspired glam wedding, and the expert planners won’t let a small budget, water damage or a flower shortage stand in their way. Amber and Jarrod want the planners to base their design on Nick Jonas and Priyanka Chopra’s wedding, defined by lush floral arrangements, while honoring the bride’s departed grandmother. The planners are tasked with giving Ashia and Jodie a wedding inspired by an iconic movie; when the bride requests heavenly, how many words is 4500 characters Paris-themed decor with angels hanging from the ceiling, they wonder if they can deliver on a budget. That student was Lance Devereux, and now he’s the owner of Designs by Devereux, LLC, a competitor on VH1’s “My Celebrity Dream Wedding” television show and an entrepreneurial force to be reckoned with. A newlywed himself, Lance married Antonio Farrington , his best friend from college and together their life has been a whirlwind of the types of things dream weddings are made of.
Being a member of the LGBTQ community myself, I do try to pay special attention to details for LGBTQ couples. Particularly with LGBTQ couples, I try to make sure that both individuals have a say in the process. Sometimes with a male/female couple there’s this expectation of tradition where only the bride has the say. I want to make sure that both parties are equally represented and free to contribute to the process. Debuting on Tuesday, February 9th at 9PM ET/PT following the season premiere of Basketball Wives. You guys have seen event planner Tori on my blog before and I recently attended her birthday celebration a few months ago here.
She will be one of the three event planners to help upcoming couples plan their dream wedding. Courtney Ajinça had her own fairytale wedding with former NBA player Alexis Ajinça, with whom she now shares two kids, but Courtney is more than a wedding planner. She’s an event planning mentor, an interior designer, and, judging by her work during the COVID-19 pandemic, a social media guru. There was a period of about a year when our industry came to a halt. There were closures, restrictions and people were afraid to celebrate. However, celebrations have become smaller and more intimate.
