In this article, I’m sharing how to get Google photos to default to a new album when you point it at a new photo.
To set Google photos to default to a new album, you will need to install the Google Photos SDK.
Google Photos was one of the first major photo services to start supporting auto-uploading photos. This is the same functionality that Google Photos now has on Android. However, it’s a little off-putting that this is the only way to get photos from Google Photos. Google Photos is the main photo service on Android, but the only service that will let you upload photos.
You could also use the Google Photos Gallery app on your desktop. However, when you point the photo at Google Photos, it will ask you to upload the image. If you’re on a mobile device, you can use Google Photos Lite.
I can’t use that one because I have a phone with Android 4.0.3 installed. I also have a Samsung Galaxy SIII running Android 4.0.2. If you do not have either of those two devices you will not be able to get photos from Google Photos. There is also an option to set Google Photos to auto-upload the photos to your device.
In the new Google Photos you can choose the default date of the image. This will allow you to upload the image to Google Photos and then it will save the date of the image. However, this is only going to work if you have Google Photos on your Android device. If you don’t have Google Photos installed on your Android device then the date of the image will be set to the day before.
The other new option is to set Google Photos to upload the photos automatically, and that will allow you to pick a specific date for the upload. This is great because it means that you can choose when you want to upload to Google Photos. However, there are no options for setting the default date for Google Photos, so you have to remember to set that yourself.
This is not as easy as it sounds. It requires that you go to Settings > Photos and then click on “default image date.” Then you have to write down the date of the image you want to use as the default, and then click Done when the date is correct. So if you want to upload photos right now (and it looks like that might be the case), you have to go and make sure you’ve set up the date correctly.
Although you can change the default image date in Google Photos, you can’t change the default date of the album you’re in. So if you want to change to the most recent image you’ve uploaded, you have to go back to the album (which is usually set to that date) and change the default date to match the one you want.
The fact is, Google Photos is pretty easy to use. The best part about Google Photos is that it gives you a ton of options to customize what you want your photos to look like, like the ability to crop, rotate, and change the size. You can also save a bunch of different images, so you can have a gallery of your favorite photos. There’s also the option to export your photos to other services like Dropbox, Google Drive, and Instagram.
